Don Sumanik Races this Weekend

Hello everyone, I hope you are all staying warm today!

I have entered all of the Red/Blue Squad skiers that will be in town this weekend for the Don Sumanik races.

At the moment the forecast for Saturday looks questionable but better for Sunday. If for some reason the classic races could not be held on Saturday, they would try to have the classic races on the Sunday. There will be a jury meeting at 11 am on Saturday to look and access the conditions.

Make sure you get your skis ready Friday as the wax room will be packed on Saturday as usual.

Also, make sure you bring all of your cold weather gear for the races.

A few important reminders;

- the colder it is the better you should warm up and be ready at the start
- if you use a pump for asthma, remember to use it at least 20 min. prior to your start
- in cold temperature, it is wise to start the race a tad slower and then accelerate after a few minutes
- remember to use a base binder and apply your kick wax in thin and uniform layers, cool your kick wax if needed. You can cover your kick wax with one layer of a colder wax outside after a short ski to speed up your kick wax
- put dry under layers on after your warm up before you start the race if possible
- protect your face with tape or cream
- stay hydrated before the race
- make sure you focus on the process and not the outcome of the races
- ski as well as you can technically and focus on using the proper technique for each course section

Good luck everyone. Alain

PS. A big thank you from Linda Stratis for all your help yesterday for the All Squad Christmas Party.
