Training this week/camp update

Hello everyone, it was great to see many of you participating in the Air North/LD run on Saturday as well as volunteering for the Whitehorse Kid's Triathlon on Sunday. I heard many positive comments from parents involved regarding the Blue Squad skiers being great role model in our community. Thank you. Alain

I would like to confirm the summer training camp dates as we are getting closer. The schedule is the same as originally published in April. We are only a few weeks away from our first camp. I would appreciate if anyone who will be unavailable for any of the camps, could let me know by e-mail (xcyukon@gmail.com) so that I can finalized the number of participants for each of the camp.

Atlin camp: June 25-29
Roller ski camp: July 25-27
Roller ski camp: August 22-24

Training schedule for the week of June 9-15

Tuesday: 4:00-4:55 spend time in the race office to review training plans/guidelines followed by our circuit training workout. (we will try another team photo with Green Squad with roller ski shirt at 4:55)

Thursday: roller skiing including specific strength. Fundraising opportunity/garbage pick up at 6 pm anyone interested.

Finally, just to let anyone know that many of our elite skiers will switch their boots and binding system this coming season. For the last 20 years, we had most of our Yukon skiers using the Salomon boots and binding system in order to facilitate the exchange of skis within the ski team at major events. Now that all of our Yukon National Team skiers have made the switch to the NNN binding system, we are going to start adopting the NNN system this season for part of our YST fleet of skis. I have negotiated an agreement with the Canadian distributor for Fischer skis, bindings and boots. They will offer an incentive this year to our Yukon high performance skiers in providing them with boots and binding at no cost. Some of these skiers will also receive additional equipment incentives because of their results in major National races. The transition will be progressive in the next few years.

If you have any questions, please give me a call or send me an e-mail. Thanks. Alain
