Fall training guidelines and team workouts this week

Hello everyone, for team training this week, we will be doing the following workouts;

Tuesday: running and plyometrics (1:00 on - 30 sec. off)

Thursday: running followed by interval training with ski poles (3 X 4 min.) on Lynx Trail

Thursday :meeting with skiers and parents to review and explain the draft selection criteria document sent earlier last week. To review, click on the following link;

Saturday: roller skiing with specific strength and video, working on one skate technique

Training guidelines

With the shorter days and colder temperature, training will become a bit more challenging in the next few weeks. Until we can start skiing on snow, this period coming up can often be one of the more difficult one for skiers. Typically, roller skiing will come to an end in the first or second week of October as the ground becomes hard from the frost and often covered by sand or gravel aftert he first snowfall. The ground on the trail will also become harder with the cold temperatures, making running more tiring. That reality is not different in other parts of the country, ours just happen a lot earlier.

In terms of training, everyone should try to do more roller skiing while it is still possible (2-3 times per week). The focus should be on making technical improvements based on the things you have being working on while doing the video with the team.

In terms of strength, everyone should be doing at least 3 strength workout per week, which mean one more on your session on your own as we do 2 per week with the team (specific and plyo).

As for intensity, every other week, you can add an intensity workout on your own or in small group similar in duration to the one we do with the team.

Everyone should be taking a look at their rock skis situation to make sure you are ready to go when the snow will come. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.

On Monday Sept. 30, we will be starting the monday workouts and we will start with individual athlete meetings.
