Good Morning.  I went to the open house for the Whitehorse Highway Corridor.  Regardless of opinions of the merit of the project there may be an opportunity to impact decisions/options for a paved pathway.

When I completed the survey I took notice of the double multi use pathway from McRae to Crestview.  The proposal is to build a multi-use paved pathway on both sides of the highway (multi use is defined as motorized and non motorized users) .  As users of the multi use pathway along Hamilton Blvd having motorized users on a paved pathway creates a bit of a safety issue with regards to speed but also, in my opinion, rocks/gravel create a hazard to self propelled users.  Motorized traffic creates a high maintenance schedule for sweeping as well as impact on the surface wear of the pavement.  In my response I have suggested only one side of road have the pathway paved.  This pathway to be open to self propelled users (bikes, walkers, runners, skateboarders/long boarders, scooters, roller skiers, etc).  The other side of the road would be a gravel surface for multi use (motorized and non-motorized).

Here is the link to the survey to be completed on line.  There was also a mail out sent to homes.
