Last day at the World Junior

The last day of the World Junior Championships saw the athletes competing in relay races. The women competed on a 3.3 km distance with the first 2 skiers racing in the classic technique and the last 2 skiers racing in the skating technique. The men had to race a 5 km distance with the same format.

There were 16 nations represented in the women and men’s field. The women finished 15th while the men finished 11th overall.

Natalie had a solid race with the 12th fastest time of her leg. Natalie started 2nd  in the tram skiing in classic.

The big surprise of the relay races was done by the US men’s team who finished 2nd overal, a huge upset!

The anchor leg was skied by Gus Shumaker from Anchorage who had competed in the AWG back in Whitehorse in 2012. He skied the fastest time in the last leg of the relay!
