Training and Roller Ski Camp information

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well and getting ready for the start of a new school year.

For training this week, we will be doing the following at practice:

Tuesday at 4.00 pm: roller skiing including speed, agility, balance and specific strength and video.

Thursday at 4.00 pm: running and strength testing in small groups at the race office. We will do the next running test on Tuesday after the roller ski camp.

Saturday from 8 am to Sunday 3 pm: Roller Ski Camp on the Haines Road.

Information for the Roller Ski Camp on the Haines Road (Dezadeash Lake Campground)

August 25-26, 2018

Saturday Aug 25       AM Leave the CGC parking Lot at 8 AM to drive to Haines Junction.We will start our first workout from Haines Junction (from the Park Visitor’s Centre parking lot). We will do a 2.5 hour roller ski workout including some intensity in zone 4 taking some video for technique review.
                                    PM Go for a roller ski workout and do some short sprint competitions including some agility and balance components.
                                    Evening play games after dinner

Sunday Aug 26          AM Roller skiing – do some specific strength near the campground followed by a long distance roller ski back to Haines Junction

                                    PM We should be back in Whitehorse around 3:00 pm.


What you will need to bring for the camp:

Food: bag lunch for Saturday following the first workout and a few snacks. The team will supply the rest of the food for dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. No need to bring a stove or cooking utensils or plates.

Equipment for roller-skiing (roller-skis, skating poles, skating boots, gloves, bike helmet, Coast MT roller ski t-shirt, rain gear, sun glasses and your water bottle)

Shorts, socks, underwear, pants, T-shirts, fleece and polypro clothing, warm clothes, rain gear, 1 tent for 1-5 athletes, sleeping bag and mattress pad, pillow, tarp, sport drink.
