Training this week and roller ski camp information

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed a good weekend.

For training this week, we will be doing the following at practices:

Tuesday at 4.00 pm: roller skiing including speed, agility, balance and specific strength.

Thursday at 4.00 pm: running and strength testing in small groups.

Friday from 8 am to Sunday 3 pm: Roller Ski Camp on the Haines Road.

So far, I know the following skiers will be unavailable for the camp:

Ben, Derek, Jamie, Romeo, Isidore and Dahlia. If anyone else will be away, could you let me know (xcyukon@gmail.com or 867-334-9220). Thanks. Alain

Information for the Roller Ski Camp on the Haines Road (Dezadeash Lake Campground)
July 20-22, 2018


Friday July 20           AM Leave the CGC parking Lot at 8 AM to drive to Haines Junction.
We will start our first workout from Haines Junction (from the Park Visitor’s Centre parking lot). We will do a 2-hour roller ski workout including some intensity in zone 3 and zone 4 taking some video for technique review.

PM Go for a short roller ski workout and do some speed work with agility and balance involved.

Play games after dinner

Saturday July 21       AM Long roller ski session (2:30) in the morning including some specific strength after a 0:45 warm up.  (3 X10 min of each technique). Take some video that we can review during the workout to look at technique.

PM Go for a short hike/run in the area in late afternoon.

Sunday July 22          AM Roller skiing – Long slow distance roller ski from the campground back to Haines Junction

                                    PM We should be back in Whitehorse around 3:00 - 3:30 pm.



What you will need to bring for the camp:

Food for 2 dinners, 3 lunches, 2 breakfasts and some snack food.
Make sure you pack some nutritious food to help with recovery between the workouts.
(Bagels, fruits and vegetables as well a mixed nut etc.).

Equipment for roller-skiing (roller-skis, skating poles, skating boots, gloves, bike helmet, Coast MT roller ski t-shirt, rain gear, sun glasses and your water bottle)

Running shoes, shorts, socks, underwear, pants, T-shirts, fleece and polypro clothing, wind breaker jacket, rain gear, swimming suit and a towel, 1 tent for 1-5 athletes, sleeping bag and mattress pad, pillow, tarp, a small day pack, water bottle, bug dope, small first aid kit, sport drink, cooking pots, utensils and a stove for 1-5 athletes. Any games you like (Frisbee, soccer, football, baseball glove, etc.)
