First update from the Ski Nationals

Hello everyone, we have completed our first day of racing at the 2017 Ski Nationals.

The first event was new for everyone, called the relay cross.  It consisted of a team made up of 2 club skiers racing individually back to back each on a different 2.0 km loop filled with obstacles. The effort was longer than a usual sprint qualifier but shorter that a prologue.

Because the times were more similar to a sprint qualifier in duration, it was a better event for skiers who tend to do well in the individual sprint qualifier, not a Yukon specialty :-)

Overall, it was an interesting challenge for everyone and a good warm up for the distance events coming up for the next 2 days.

After the first day of competition, Whitehorse is in 10th place in the aggregate club ranking. Tomorrow will see the Yukon skiers take part in the short distance skate races.
