It was a fun day of relay racing at the Western CDN Championships earlier today. All of our athletes were able to compete on a team and all raced well in this format. Here is the result summary:
2nd position Yukon Juveniles (Derek, Victor, Sasha)
3rd position Yukon/NWT (Nicolas, Nichollis, Ben)
5th position Yukon Junior Girl (Amanda, Sonjaa, Hannah)
DNF Yukon/NWT (Dahlia, Ella, Meghan)
For team training this week, here is the tentative schedule as it looks like cold temperatures may return to the Yukon for the weekend:
Monday at 4pm: ski in classic and do some specific strength with skate skis and poles. The skiers returning from the Western can do an easy ski in classic today.
Tuesday at 4pm: ski in classic and do some speed work as a team.
Thursday at 4pm: ski in classic and do some intensity in zone 3-4.
Saturday at 11:00: Tim Horton race (weather permitting).
Reminder that Alain will be away at the World Junior/U23 Championships for the next 2 weeks.
