Good first day for Yukon Skiers at the NORAM in Thunder Bay

Hello everyone, it was a good first day of racing at the NORAM in Thunder Bay yesterday in the skiathlon races.

In the 30 km men's race, Graham Nishikawa finished first, second Yukon skier in the 30 km skiathlon was David Greer who finished in 8th position. Following for the Yukon were Colin Abbott and Knute Johnsgaard who both had solid performances in the under 23 category, finishing respectively 3rd and 4th (12th and 14th in the open men). John Parry was the next Yukon skiers and finished 15th in the open men category.

Both Colin and Knute are trying to qualify for a spot on the National Ski Team who will compete at the under 23  World Championships later in January.

In the Women's race, Emily Nishikawa had a solid race taking the first spot on the podium. Following her for the Yukon in the Junior Women category was Dahria Beatty who finished 4th.

Finally, in the junior Men category, Fabian Brook completed the 20 km skiathlon in 29th position.

The racing will resume tomorrow with the classic individual sprints. Take care. Alain
