Good first day at the Eastern Canadian

We completed the first day of races at the  Eastern Canadian Championships today. The Yukon skiers competed in two different events today, an individual sprint for the open male and female and open juniors and a short prologue for the rest of the skiers. 

The best placing for the day was done by Graham Nishikawa finishing second in the open men 1.5 km sprint. Colin Aboott was unlucky breaking a pole and just missing moving on after the quarter final. Colin ended up 13th for the day. Annah Hanthorn did not start today as she is still resting her sprained ankle. She will enter the race tomorrow. 

In the 3 km prologue, the best placing for the day was achieved by Nathalie Hynes who finished 7th in the Juvenile girl category. Hannah Deuling finished 7th in the same category. Next up in placing was Simon Cash who finished 15th in the Juvenile Boys.

Tomorrow the racing will resume with the middle distance races in skating.
