Fundamental Movement Screening and Time Trial

Hello everyone, we have an opportunity to have our skiers screened for FMS in the next few weeks, thanks to Mandy and Elizabeth. We will start tomorrow with the following skiers. Please let me know if you can't make it so that I can adjust the schedule.

11:00-11:20 am in the race office: Hannah J., Dagmar, Amanda T.
12:30-12:50 pm in the race office: Liam, Savannah, Regan

As for the time trial, we will start it right in front of the wax room doors at 11:45.

The course will be around 2.55 km per lap (twice for younger skiers and three times around for the older skiers. The course description will be on the white board.

Thanks. Alain

We are so lucky to have physiotherapist Mandy McClung and occupational therapist Elizabeth Reid offer to do Functional Movement Screening (FMS) for our squads.  There is a good description of FMS at the following link, but basically Mandy and Elizabeth will ask your child to do a few motions (squats, core strength etc...).
This screening identifies any potential functional limitations and asymmetries that might impact movement (ski training).  http://www.functionalmovement.com/fms

After the screening, they will give suggested exercises to you and your child that can be used at home if weaknesses are found.    If there are any potential "red flags" for your child, Mandy and Elizabeth are more than willing to meet with parents to give feedback on what can be done to address these 'red flags"
