Ski prep for Saturday and race prep

Hello everyone, you should make sure the glide wax is done on your classic skis by Friday evening for Saturday's race as the wax room will be a very busy place tomorrow!

The latest forecast is calling for temperatures in the -10 to -14 range for Saturday with perhaps some flurries so we can assume that for glider, we will want to use a glider in the -10 to -15 range like a Swix LF4 or equivalent. Don't worry too much about the glide wax in classic as the kick wax is what is going to make your skis work.

For kick, make sure your wax pocket is clean and well abraded with #120 sand paper (from tip to tail). After you have abraded the wax pocket, apply a thin layer of base wax, either a Swix VG 35 or a Toko Green binder. Let the base wax cool before you start applying your kick wax. You could put in 4 layers of Rode Super Extra Blue on top of your base binder and wait until Saturday morning to do the final adjustments.

On Saturday, depending on the track condition and how the snow that we shoveled on Thursday hold up, you could either add a few more layers of Rode Super Blue Extra or add some Rode Multigrade Purple if the track breaks down or if it is snowing. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

As for your warm up for the race, same as last week, make sure you get to the start line well warmed up and ready to push hard from the start as you have a 1 km section of climbing at the start of the race. Make sure to keep your focus on your technique and your effort and pacing in each of the section of the race course. Your first good recovery on the race course will come after the right turn at the Wall. There is a really good recovery section after the Interchange. After climbing the 007 uphill, your focus will switch to double polling  and one step double polling mostly until the start of the next lap.

Stay calm, relaxed and focus. Have fun everyone tomorrow! Take care. Alain
