No team training this Monday and Western Update

Last day of action at the Western Canadian in Canmore. A difficult day for the skiers who traveled from Whitehorse as they are in various state of recovery from the stomach flu bug that wiped almost everyone on the team this weekend :(

The highlights from today for the Yukon skiers;

Open women:

Emily Nishikawa finished first in the open women while Dahria Beatty finished 3rd in the 15 km mass start skate race. Annah Hanthorn did not start in order to get better as she is in her final preparation before she will travel to the World Junior next week.

Open Men:

Graham Nishikawa finished 9th while Knute Johnsgaard finished in12th spot in the 20 km mass start race earlier today.

Junior Boys:

Hudson Lucier who finished 23rd and Simon Cash who finished 39 In the 10 km skate race.

Juvenile Boys:

Michael Kischuck who had a great personal result with a 19th place in the 6.6 km mass start skate race.

Junior Girls:

Natalie Hynes with another stellar day with a fifth place finish in the 6.6 km mass start race while Alexis Gee finished in 32th place

Juvenile Girls:

Hannah Deuling who finished 16th, Hannah Shier 22nd, Regan Fuerstner 23rd, Mira Mason 25th, Hannah Jirousek 34th and Amanda Thomson 35th in the 6.6 km mass start race.

In the end, it was a disappointing weekend for many of our younger skiers because of the sickness going through the team. It was also a great opportunity for them to learn by seeing a lot of very fast skiers out competing in Canmore.

Take care. Alain
