Race Report from Duntroon

The Yukon Ski Team has resumed racing on the NORAM circuit today in Duntroon, ON.

The skiathlon races were held earlier today in challenging weather conditions. The winds were gusting between 50 to 60 km/hr for most of the day which created challenging skiing conditions for the athletes involved in the event.

The day started with the Open Men category with 2 Yukon skiers competing. Knute Johnsgaard skied well and managed to finished 4th in the open men category and 2nd in the under 23 category. Also skiing in the open men category was Colin Abbott who had a solid performance finishing in 17th position in the open men.


Following the open men were the Open Women with four Yukon skiers competing. In the end, Emily Nishikawa won the event. Dahria Beatty was the next best skier finishing in 5th place, 3rd as an under 23 skier. Kendra murray and Annah Hanthorn were next finishing 10th and 11th respectively and 4th and 5th respectively in the under 23 ranking.

The Junior Men followed and two Yukon skiers competed. Marcus Deuling finishiing 10th and Caelan Mclean finishing in 15th place.

Finally, Adrienne Hynes was the last Yukon skiers to compete and she finished 20th in the Junior Women field.

Overall, a good day for the Yukon skiers. The next race will take place on Saturday and will be a classic sprint. On Sunday, an individual skate race will be held.
