Selection for 2016 AWG, Eastern Cdn and World Junior Trials

First of all, congratulation to everyone on the great racing this past weekend. I was very impressed with how everyone prepared for the selection races and the focus you all showed in getting ready for the races.

I know that not everyone has met the criteria for all the trips, but I am impressed with the improvement that everyone has made.  It is motivating to see how much the team has improved from May to December.

For the Eastern Canadian Championships, we will accommodate everyone who met the criteria with a combination of A and B team support and possibly some race service only support for our older skiers. Everyone who has met the criteria and is interested in taking part to the trip should go ahead and complete the flight bookings (posted in an older blog post). As for the World Junior/U23 Trial in January, my recommendation is for the skiers born in 1998 and before to participate in the event. Because of the longer race distances and the high level of competition at this event, I think it is most appropriate for the older skiers (Kendra, Annah, Natalie, Colin, Caelan, Hudson, Simon).

As for training during the holiday, I would focus on doing some long and slow distance workouts in order to work on the base training. Incorporating some speed and some double polling only technique work should be all that is needed until the end of the holiday. We will have the next workout on Dec. 26th at 11:00 am (long slow ski in classic).

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the coaches for all their support this year. Have a Merry Christmas. Take care and keep up the great work. Alain
