First day in Nuuk

It has been a busy 24 hour in Nuuk since we arrived for the opening ceremony last night.

We were very fortunate to be able to attend the opening ceremony thanks to a break in the weather which allowed everyone to fly to Nuuk. The ceremony was great, filled with local cultures and music.

Today we went for our first ski on the trails where the racing will take place this week. The trails are relatively easy by our Yukon standards. The schedule has been modified to accommodate for the lost day while we were in Kangerlussak.

The longest loop is 2.5 km long and will be used for all the racing this week. We will now race everyday until Friday. The sprint competition has been moved from Tuesday to Friday and the relays will now take place on Thursday. Tomorrow, all of the skiers will ski a 5 km in classic.

There are a total of 118 skiers participating in x-c skiing at these AWG. They come form 8 different contingents, Alaska, NWT, Alberta North, Nunavik, Greenland, Sampmi and the Yukon.

We are all looking forward to the racing tomorrow. Cheers. Alain
