Welcome back to Michael and Classic Length Ski Poles

Hello everyone, a few messages to pass along.

  • First of all, I would like to welcome Michael back in the Blue Squad. It will be a pleasure to have you back in the team Michael :-)

  • The International Ski Federation has decided to limit the length of ski poles for classic races. Starting this winter, classic poles length should not exceed 83% of the skier's height measured wearing ski boots.

"FIS Adopts New Rule On Maximum Classic Pole Length"

The International Ski Federation has decided Friday that poles for classic races will now be limited to 83 percent of a skiers height. "This is one of several measures to preserve classical skiing" says Age Skinstad, Norway's representative on the FIS World Cup committee.
The German Ski Federation had originally proposed a maximum of 85 percent of body height, but during meetings on Friday that number was reduced to 83 percent. The skier's body height will be counted while they are wearing their ski boots, with the height of the pole being measured to the top of where the strap attaches to the handle.
