First Ever Gold for Graham at a National

It was a very special day of sprinting for the Yukon Ski Team earlier today in the long sprint competition. The race included the older juniors and the senior skiers.

The day started well with both of our junior women skiers qualifying and making it to the finals. Dahria finishing 3rd in the A final and Annah finishing 2 of the B final giving her the 8th place overall.

Following the junior women were the senior women who saw Emily finishing first in the B Final for a 7th position while Kendra did not move beyond the 1/4 final and ended up in 17th overall.

The senior men followed with all 3 Yukon skiers easily qualifying including Knute who posted his first ever top qualifying time in a skate sprint. Graham qualifyed in 4th while Colin ended up with the 10th fastest time.

Both of our skiers ended up in the A Final with Graham taking the win for his first ever gold medal in an individual race at a National Championships. Knute was a close second for his first ever individual medal as a senior skier in a National Championships.

It was also the first time ever for the Yukon to have 2 male skiers on the podium in the same race at the senior National.

A great day overall.
